Ballet 2/ 3 Tues 4:30pm-5:45pm & Thurs 5:10pm-6:25pm Age: 7 and Up
$85 Teacher assessment required
Build upon the fundamentals of ballet in our level 2 & 3 class, designed for our students that have had previous ballet training. These students have learned and demonstrated their understanding of basic ballet techniques. In this class we will focus on flexibility, increasing strength, refine basic ballet positions, learn and practice more intricate foot work, increase understanding of ballet terminology and vocabulary and more.
Strengthening & Conditioning is required for students entering Level 2 for the 1st year.
Beginners Tap/Jazz Tuesdays Age: 7 and Up
5:50pm-6:50pm $65
Get ready to swing into fun with this energetic class that teaches both jazz and tap. This dynamic class combines jazz dance along with percussive beats of tap, creating a unique class for students to learn and thrive in. In this class students will learn jazz techniques, tap basics, combinations that blend jazz and tap along with rhythmic awareness and musicality. We will guide students through a warm-up, technique exercises and choreographed routines.
Intermediate/Advanced Tap& Jazz Tuesdays Age: 7 and Up
7:00pm-8:00pm $65 Teacher assessment required
Let's step it up to the next level dancers! This class will refine jazz and tap techniques, increase speed and accuracy, explore intricate footwork and complex rhythms, as well as further develop musicality and expression.
Creative Movement Thursdays Age: 3-4
4:30pm-5:00pm $35
Bring your little ones to participate in a fun creative movement class where we will explore music, dance, rhythm and so much more. Students will have fun learning social skills, motor skills, dance technique, combinations through fun activities.
Choreography Team Thursdays 6:30pm-7:30pm Director assessment required
This class is for committed students that want to learn how to use their gifts and talents to impact the world. In this class we will explore all genres of dance and learn many different choreographic pieces. Students are coached and trained to lead classes as well as using teamwork to create dance pieces together. There will be opportunities throughout the year to engage in community outreaches.
Ballet/Tap Fridays Age: 5-6
5:00pm-5:40pm $45
Jump into a class with twirls and beats. This fun and engaging class is designed for younger students to be introduced to the very basic skills of ballet and tap. Students will participate in a series of warmups, across the floor movements that will help to develop coordination, balance, musicality, and confidence with the guidance of the instructor.
Strengthening & Conditioning Fridays Age: 7 and Up
6:00pm-6:40pm $45
This class is designed for dancers to improve flexibility, strength, and endurance. Using a combination of pilates, cardio, ballet inspired exercises; students will develop core strength, stability, improve dance technique, and develop better endurance. Open to all dancers.
Ballet1 & 1 Advanced Fridays Age: 7 and Up
6:50pm-7:50pm $65
Our ballet level 1 class is perfect for those new to ballet or for those who have taken level one and is still learning and developing their skill. This class will introduce you to the fundamentals of ballet technique including basic positions, proper alignment, barre work, center exercises and across the floor movement. Our approach to ballet helps students to progress to the next level and helps build strength, flexibility, and confidence.
Strengthening & Conditioning is highly recommended for ballet students.
Shekinah Mays
Artistic Director/Owner
Shekinah was born and raised in Florida. At the age of 9 years old she began dance lessons in ballet, jazz, and tap. Her interest and passion increased for dance and later joined Manatee School for Arts where her studies involved all genres of dance (ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop) including partaking in after school program the Carty Academy and other dance studios. She has participated in competitions, and many performances. At the age of 14 Shekinah joined Zoe Company and continued to dance with them for 15 years. In 2011 she was accepted into the dance program at Palm Beach Atlantic University and since then has graduated with her bachelor’s in Psychology. Shekinah has received a certification in Progressing Ballet Technique. Her passion and love for dance has grown into an opportunity to teach children in the community, including special needs children. As of March 2015 Shekinah along with her husband Adrian Mays, have dedicated their lives to teaching dance full time and have opened their own dance company called Kingdom Arts Academy. Their desire is to teach others how to use their gifts to make a difference in our world and to glorify God through the arts.
